Me and My MGB | May

My surgery day has finally arrived!

The build up to this day is like the build up to your wedding day! So many emotions. Most are positive: excitement and joy. Others are negative: trepidation and fear.

There’s no other way to explain it. You’ve been planning this for so long, going over every detail in your mind, asked all the questions. Now it’s up to the doctor and his team to take over and get you through.

Arriving at the clinic in the early morning is almost like getting to the airport for an early morning flight.  Everyone has a purpose for being there; no one is just hanging out. It’s all about the surgery.

The staff are so welcoming and calming. Once there, you see that this team knows what they’re doing. I met with the nurses to do one final review of my medical history and pre-op paperwork, the doctor who’s going to put me to sleep and of course, my surgeon. They kept me informed every step of the way.

One minute I’m walking into the operating room, the next I’m waking up in recovery. It felt like just a minute went by. The nurses were so attentive, and I felt safe and well cared for during my stay.

The next day I was discharged and headed home for my recovery.

Now the healing starts… Remember, small steps!
