History of the Lap-Band

The Lap-Band System was approved for use by Health Canada in 1998 and was FDA-approved (United States) for the treatment of obesity in 2001. European and Australian surgeons have had experience using the Lap-Band since 1994. There are over 2,000 Lap-Band surgeries performed in the United States every month and over 400,000 Lap-Band System devices implanted around the world.

SWLC & the Lap-Band

The Surgical Weight Loss Centre uses a Lap-Band designed and produced in the United States. It has been subjected to rigorous scientific testing and is one of only two gastric band devices approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the United States.
