Gastric Band Procedure
Managing your Obese Patient's Care
Unlike other surgical procedures with minimal follow-up, weight loss procedures require long-term patient monitoring and support. The Surgical Weight Loss Centre team will follow patients closely and provide all the follow up care required for the Gastric Band device. Your patients care will be enhanced if you become involved in the patient’s follow-up care as well. This is very important if they have obesity related comorbidities that may improve or resolve with weight loss. This may require the adjustment or elimination of medications for conditions such as Diabetes Type 2, hypertension, depression, osteoarthritis, gastroesophageal reflux and elevated cholesterol. As well patients with sleep apnea may require adjustments to their CPAP machines as they lose weight..2-9
