Conclusion
Diet, exercise, behaviour modification and pharmacotherapy are only moderately effective weight loss methods. Most patients regain whatever weight they do manage to lose. Weight loss surgery has demonstrated impressive and sustained success rates and therefore more and more physicians are recommending surgical procedures for morbidly obese patients.
Studies have shown that Gastric Band procedure has comparable efficacy to traditional gastric bypass surgery, yet is less invasive and safer. Gastric Band procedure is the most commonly performed bariatric procedure around the world.
