Improvements or Resolution of Comorbidities
Asthma
There is a growing body of literature that suggests an association between asthma and obesity. Since overweight and obesity are associated with a dose-dependent increase in the odds of incident asthma in men and women, the asthma incidence could be reduced by interventions targeting overweight and obesity15.
A study published in 2005 in the American Journal of Surgery reported that, at 36 months after Gastric Band procedure, improvements or resolution of asthma were as high as 81.8%.4.
