March 19/10
I have been booked for March 19 so started MediTrim yesterday. I don't find it too bad as long as it is really cold. I am so scared about having surgery as I have never been put under before. BUT... As I went through my closet yesterday and looked at all the nice clothes I have that I can't fit into, I thought to myself that it will all be worth it! I really can't wait to feel good about myself again!

Congratulation in taking the first step for yourself and good luck. Just take it one day at a time and success will be yours

Re: March 19/10
Good for you. I am scheduled on March 17th so I totally understand and am in the same situation as you. Fortunately I have never had to have any surgeries, so I am very nervous. I am one week on the Meditrim - have really been using the vegetables as my way of feeling like I get to eat...crunching into celery and cauliflower...not my absolute favourite but you do what you have to. We are on the path to better health (and looking great in the process). All the best. Lisa

Re: March 19/10
It's the night before the big day and I am actually feeling calmer then I thought I would be. My husband and my mom think I am nuts for worrying at all, since I delivered all three of my sons with no pain medication and they think that pain is much worse then getting my band is going to be! We shall see! I found the posts about exactly what happens when you get to the clinic very helpful. I feel like I have a good idea of what is in store for me tomorrow.
Thanks for your kind words and see you on the other side!

TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Good luck (I know you are probably already in...)
Looking forward to seeing you on the boards - and having had both the band and a c-section, I have to say the section was worse

I did it! I was really scared, cried like a baby for most of the time after I got there until I was put to sleep. Everyone at the clinic was really great. I am two days post op and have been doing ok. Have a fair amount of pain and tenderness and feel really bloated. Wasn't at all as bad as I thought it was going to be. I have been relying on the Gas X and tylenol. I had hoped to go back to work on Tuesday but I don't think I will be able to. Getting better each day though and just really taking it easy.

Re: March 19/10
the first couple of days are the worst and then it gets better fairly quickly. you might find by tuesday you'll feel up to going back to work. I had my surgery on a thursday, thought I was gonna die on friday, could have chewed off my left arm/shoulder on sat and sunday, decent on monday and back to work pretty ok on tuesday. but i made sure i was doing desk job like stuff when i first got back which also helped. don't overdo it and you'll be fine.
Surgery 2/7/09

Re: March 19/10
Hi DebJean,
I too had the lap band surgery performed by Dr. Cobourn on March 19th so we were probably there at the same time or perhaps overlapped in recovery. I remember there was one woman in the recovery room when I woke up who may have been you. I had my surgery in the morning because that's apparently the time they do the diabetics. That's what I'm really looking forward to -- the weight loss is a given -- but that I can either reduce or even, dare I say, eliminate my diabetic medication along with other medications I currently take by losing weight through the lap band surgery.
This is my first posting in this forum and first email I've ever sent anywhere. I'm not sure if I'm even doing this right. I hope so. I'm fairly new to using computers. I'd like to be able to communicate with other lap banders about different situations. I've had several questions and concerns but I don't want to call the clinic each time, so I'm glad to be able to read responses from the people in this forum who have experienced similar situations. I especially appreciate the lap banders who have long-time experience and offer valuable insight for us "newbies".
I would really enjoy hearing from yourself DebJean since we are starting the same path at the same time, and look forward to any and all responses from other lapbanders. Cate

Hi DebJean, Griffberts and ???
Welcome to the club as they say... Reading the message board, going into the chat room is a wonderful way to communicate with fellow bandsters. For those of you that live in the Mississauga area, there are monthly peer support group meetings. Check out the main board in the support group section for the details. If you would like to be added to the reminder list please let me know. You will do fine with your new found way of life. All the best.
