On October 23, 24 & 25, 2009, the Surgical Weight Loss Centre will be among the 425 exhibitors at the National Women’s Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto. The yearly event is Canada’s largest consumer show for women in providing various fashion, beauty, travel and health tips under one roof.

Guests will have the chance to meet and interact with the professional staff at SWLC, receive brochures & pamphlets, determine if they are a candidate by having their BMI calculated or schedule a free one-on-one consultation with a leading bariatric surgeon.

The Surgical Weight Loss Centre has performed over 2,000 procedures and is proud to be a part of this event in providing helpful information to individuals who are interested in sustaining weight loss to improve their overall health and quality of life.

Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre May 15th 2010

The venue for the Surgical Weight Loss Centre’s 3rd Annual SWLC Symposium has just been announced. The anticipated event of the year is scheduled to take place on May 15th 2010 at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre located at 801 Dixon Road in Toronto. The newly renovated full service airport hotel provides an on-site car rental and a complimentary Airport Shuttle Service. Hotel services include complimentary fitness facility, business centre, sundry shop, restaurants and indoor heated pool & whirlpool. Lap-band Surgery An Alternative To Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass surgery has been the most popular surgical method of losing weight in Cayman, but now a Canadian surgeon is offering an alternative. Dr. Chris Cobourn spoke to members of the Cayman Islands Medical and Dental Society on Monday night, introducing to them the lap–band alternative. Using keyhole surgery, the upper part of the stomach is encircled by a band to create a little pouch which can hold 15 to 30 cc.
