THURSDAY, October 13th, 2011 —SWLC is delighted to return to the largest trade show for women in Canada on Friday,  November 11 – Sunday, November 13 at the Toronto National Women’s Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. This is SWLC’s 3^rd consecutive year in showcasing its clinic and effective weight loss programs for achieving and maintaining weight loss. Since 2005, SWLC has been a proud contributor and have helped over 3,000 patients overcome their struggle with obesity.

At this year’s National Women’s Show, SWLC will be introducing an exciting never before feature in which visitors will get a chance to meet a Lap-Band patient and ask their questions. This is a great opportunity for those interested in learning more about SWLC’s  program in recognizing the benefits and life-changing possibilities associated with the Lap-Band.

Most notably, SWLC Medical Director and Surgeon, Dr. Chris Cobourn, will be making an appearance on the Health & Wellness Stage on Sunday, November 13^th at 11:15am for his presentation on “The Lap-Band and Gastric Balloon: Innovative Solutions for Sustained Weight Loss”. Not only has Dr. Cobourn been a recognized surgeon in the medical community since 1989, but he has served on expert committees to help establish worldwide standards for bariatric surgery. In addition to his record of accomplishments, Dr. Cobourn is an international and national contributor to Lap-Band research regarding its effectiveness and safety with three publications in his profile.

Dr. Chris Cobourn, Medical Director and Surgeon of Surgical Weight Loss Centre, has been invited to speak at the two most prestigious international obesity conferences for healthcare professionals.

The 2^nd Annual Obesity Summit on April 28^th – May 1^st 2011 is set to take place in Montreal this year at Le Centre Sheraton Hotel. On Friday, April 29^th, Dr. Cobourn is scheduled to address over 400 delegates from all over Canada and speak on “Lessons Learned from a Large Lap-Band Practice in Canada”. The highly anticipated presentation will be the only Lap-Band lecture at the Summit.

In addition to his list of speaking engagements, it has recently been announced that Dr. Cobourn will be speaking at the XVI World Congress of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders at the Congress Centre in Hamburg, Germany on September 3^rd, 2011. The congregation of leading experts in the medical field includes lectures, posters & video presentations and various bariatric exhibitors.

As an internationally respected and sought after speaker, Dr. Cobourn is honored to receive the opportunity to speak to the medical community on various topics regarding obesity and weight loss programs offered at SWLC.  In part of his mission to educate healthcare professionals and the public on the Lap-Band program, in April 2010, alongside Dr. David Mumford, SWLC published its first research study on the safety and efficacy of the Lap-Band as an outpatient procedure in Obesity Surgery.

The Surgical Weight Loss Centre is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Symposium on April 30th 2011 at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel and Conference Centre.

With exciting speakers lined up, the yearly Symposium is sure to attract over 200 guests. The Symposium has become a tradition in the SWLC community since 2008 and has provided guests the chance to unite with other patients and discuss their own journey. An event that is anticipated by Dr. Cobourn and his staff members each Spring, guests can expect to interact with their favourite staff members throughout the day.

Mississauga, ON - The Surgical Weight Loss Centre (SWLC) is proud to return as one of the exhibitors at the Weight Wise Expo taking place on October 2nd – 3rd at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto.

Known as the event of the year for those interested in the latest weight management, nutrition and fitness information, the Weight Wise Expo is an educational and motivational event that SWLC is pleased to be a part of. With various topics from weight loss programs to healthy cooking to fitness assessments, attending the Weight Wise Expo is an ideal place to be. Two of the Biggest Loser’s successful contestants, Alexandra White and Antoine Dove, from Season 8 will be amongst the guest speakers scheduled for the weekend.

Visited by hundreds of guests last year, SWLC will showcase two of its bariatric programs, the Lap-Band and the Gastric Balloon. Recognized as the highest volume Lap-Band clinic in Canada, SWLC has performed over 2, 800 weight loss procedures since 2005.
