Experienced Weight Loss Surgeons

At the Surgical Weight Loss Centre you are in extremely capable hands. With a record of more than 3,000 successful weight loss procedures, we continue to treat hundreds of new patients from across Canada each year. Moreover, you are treated as an individual, including a personal consultation with one of our surgeons, and a Program fine-tuned to your needs.

We have five surgeons who have each performed thousands of laparoscopic procedures and received advanced training in the evaluation, treatment and post-procedure care of both Lap-Band and Gastric Balloon patients. All of our surgeons are on active staff at the Trillium Health Centre (which is located less than two kilometres from the clinic) and all have served terms as either the Chief of Surgery or Chief of General Surgery.

• Our surgeons have ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) training.
• Our surgeons remain with you at the clinic until you are ready to be discharged.
• A surgeon is available 24 hours a day by pager for urgent or emergency concerns.
• Anesthesia is provided by physicians who are certified specialists in anesthesia, with extensive experience with obese patients.
• Our nurses have received basic and advanced bariatric patient care training
• Our nurses continually update their knowledge of bariatrics and caring for the bariatric patient by attending regular conferences and training seminars.

The Surgical Weight Loss Centre is also committed to contributing to research on the medical and surgical treatments of obesity. We participate in a number of research projects and are actively involved in writing scientific papers documenting our clinic.
